Dear Carver families,
The teachers and staff of Carver Elementary School are excited to welcome students to the 2021-22 school year, full-time and in-person! Requests for Independent Study can be found here, due 8/6th.
During the summer, classrooms were cleaned and floors re-waxed. Carver completed HVAC maintenance and filter changes in all classrooms. The campus is now ready to reopen for the new school year!
Also, scouts led by Eagle Scout and former Carver student, Marcus Koh repainted the National Blue Ribbon and Distinguished School mural at the Main Entrance and renovated the Driveway Marquee. Congratulations to Marcus on becoming an Eagle Scout!
Some important dates on the 2021-22 School Calendar can be found on the school website, www.carverschool.us. For example, on August 10th, 5:00 PM, class lists will be posted on the website. The First Day of school is on August 11th, which is a Minimum Day. TK and Kindergarten will have a Meet-and-Greet on August 11th at 8:30 AM.
Parents and guardians may come onto campus to drop off students in the morning on Day 1, August 11th. At this time, the County requires masks to be worn when indoors. Parents and guardians may also drop students off at the Steps for students to walk in. Students should be kept home if not feeling well. Please click here for the School Handbook. In creating a collaborative environment that fosters lifelong learning for all children and inspires students to reach their highest potential, our team of teachers and staff are tirelessly innovating and applying new instructional strategies to connect with and reach all students. Carver School empowers students to achieve their goals by being student-centric in everything that we do.
Teachers and staff have been upgrading their instructional technology skills throughout last year. We will continue to refine our skills and participate in professional development in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
All classroom teachers at Carver are highly qualified and hold two state teaching credentials: one for teaching multiple subjects (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Science, Music, Art, etc.) and one for English Language Development (ELD). With the support of the site ELD Aide, English Learners will continue to receive instruction with appropriate integrated and designated supports.
Carver is blessed to have a very supportive community and devoted families that share a unity of purpose in creating exceptional learning environments for all our students. We are grateful for the San Marino Schools Foundation, the Carver PTA, the Carver Enrichment Fund, and the SMUSD District Office. We are grateful for the outstanding caliber of volunteerism and generosity that defines the difference seen in our students’ academic outcomes. With your support, Carver School continues to shine bright.
We welcome our new and returning families to a new school year and a new beginning! Our school is here to serve our children and partner with our families in our shared journey of promoting student academic growth and character development. Please check our school website at www.carverschool.us for exciting events that we have this year. Please also subscribe to our weekly newsletter for the latest updates.
